Addiction Angels of America

Our purpose is to deliver the best individualized comprehensive treatment for drug and alcohol addiction in Columbus, Ohio. Many factors contribute to the complex puzzle of addiction. For some it’s a coping mechanism for stress caused by trauma. For others, it’s body and brain chemistry. For many, it’s both. For this reason, we’ve assembled a team of warm, receptive and highly-trained individuals who are equipped to deal with the combination of mind and body issues that contribute to addictive behavior.

Dr. Roger Garcia, DO, JD

Founder

One of the leading Columbus-based addiction specialists, Dr. Roger Garcia is among the few physicians in the U.S. who has earned the designation of Diplomat (board-certified Addictionologist) through the American Board of Addiction Medicine. This distinction is held by fewer than 4,000 of the nearly 1 million practicing physicians.

His expertise in comprehensive wellness enhances his ability to treat the entire mind, body and spirit of individuals who struggle with addiction. He enjoys reading, concerts and you’ll often find him in a painful but effective Boot Camp workout. Being the father of twin daughters also contributes to his mental and physical fitness.

DISTINCTIONS

He owns Columbus-based Perfected Wellness, MD, a medical practice that offers all facets of anti-aging medicine including aesthetic and preventive medicine, wellness, nutrition and fitness. He is a member of a national network of highly trained anti-aging physicians specializing in bioidentical hormone therapy that was featured on Oprah Winfrey and the Dr. Oz show.

Dr. Blayre Tuggle, MD

Dr. Tuggle brings a rich background of experience and compassion to her clients. A Cincinnati native, she worked in Urgent Care and Primary Care for 35 years and Addiction Medicine for 10 years. Additionally, she worked for the Ohio Department of Medicaid for 15 years and worked in the Ohio Penial System for 3 years. The 3 years she spent working for the U.S. Public Health Service gives her valuable insight to the national needs of our country’s health and safety.

In her free time, Dr. Tuggle enjoys being outside bicycling, riding horses, camping, and swimming. She collects Sci-fi figures, plays a mean video game, and loves Sci-fi movies (her favorite is Bladerunner). She enjoys watching cooking shows and studying other cultures.

Dr. Renee Sartain, DO
Dr. Renee Sartain, DO
Dr. Sartain hails from the state of Oklahoma where she practiced Family Medicine for over 20 years before relocating to Columbus, OH. She has practiced addiction medicine for the past 8 years and finds great satisfaction in contributing to the life changing transformation that medication assisted treatment provides.

In her free time, Dr. Sartain enjoys dancing, sailing, cooking, concerts, and browsing art galleries.

Soumya Kurian, MSN, FNP-C Nurse Practitioner
Soumya Kurian, MSN, FNP-C Nurse Practitioner
Soumya Kurian is board certified as a Family Nurse Practitioners by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners. She has additional certification in substance abuse and mental health (SAMHSA). She has been practicing addiction medicine since 2017.

She started her nursing career as a registered nurse in 2003. She earned her Master of Science in Nursing Degree from Indiana State University in May 2016 . Soon after her graduation she worked for an year in an Urgent Care setting as a Family Nurse Practitioner. It is during this time she discovered that her true passion is to serve a patient population that struggles with drug & alcohol addiction and lead them towards a path of recovery.

Soumya lives in Columbus with her husband and two boys . During her free time she loves cooking and experimenting various cuisines. She enjoys music and is a member of church choir. She is actively involved with local church community.

Emily Lore, Practice Manager

Emily was born in Hughesville, PA, but considers herself a true Ohioan
now that she has lived here most of her adult life. She holds a bachelor’s
degree in Allied Healthcare from Franklin University. Emily and her
husband Zach welcomed their daughter Ruby in 2023 and they look
forward to traveling the world. Emily enjoys camping, crafting, and spending time with her growing family.

Emily previously worked as an information specialist at All Women’s
Healthcare Center in Jacksonville, FL.

Lindsay Dowler, CDCA
Lindsay Dowler, CDCA
Lindsay obtained her Chemical Dependency Counseling certification a little over four years ago. She began her career focusing on addiction prevention before transitioning to medication assisted treatment support with Addiction Angels of America. She also holds a bachelors in fine arts from Columbus College of Art and Design.

Lindsay spends her free time with friends and family. She enjoys cooking, frequenting dog parks with her pup “Winnie”, and traveling to unique Airbnb’s in serene locations.

Chloe is a West Virginia native who relocated to Central Ohio as a child. She spent the first part of her adult life as a stay-at-home mom, raising two children with her high school sweetheart, Rob. She obtained her Medical Assistant Certification two years ago. Although presented with several career paths, her understanding and compassion for those suffering with addiction prompted her decision to work in addiction recovery.

You can find Chloe attending car shows with her husband, glamping during the summer months, and volunteering throughout the community in her free time.

Dave spent his early childhood in Akron, Ohio and moved with his family to Grove City, Ohio where he graduated from Grove City HS as an Ohio Capital Conference (OCC) Scholar Athlete. The OCC Scholar Athlete Award recognizes elite performance on the field and in the classroom. He graduated from The Ohio State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry in 2007.

Prior to joining the Addiction Angels of America team, Dave worked for eight years in product development at Ashland, Inc. He also spent two years in quality control in Pharma at Roxanne Labs and an additional two years in quality control in chemical manufacturing at VWR/Avantor.

Dave enjoys being a dad to a boy and girl, who keep him busy. In his spare time, you’ll find him fishing, drag racing, working on cars, and rooting for the Buckeyes and the Browns. He’s proud that he can check hiking the Colorado Rockies off his bucket list.
